Dupuytren’s Contracture is a disease mostly affects white people over the age of 50. Patients find one or more fingers become permanently bent in a flexed position, caused by the formation of abnormal connective tissue within the palmar fascia. The condition can interfere with daily activities like preparing food, and writing.
The poster illustrates the step by step Fasciectomy, for educational purpose. The surgery is to cut out a layer of infected fascia that lies deep under the skin, which can relax the fingers. The surgery process is visualised with the guidance of supervisors from ZUYD University, and Mw. dr. S.M.H. Tuinder from Maastricht UMC+.
